Imaginary Realms features the works of Kemal Suhaya, a talented young artist from Jakarta. Born in 2003 into a family of artists, Kemal has been honing his talents and imagination from a young age. He graduated from Senior High School of Fine Arts in Yogyakarta (SMSR Jogja) and is currently studying at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore. This debut solo exhibition marks a significant milestone in his artistic journey, showcasing works that explore the relationship between emotion and imagination, while also highlighting the depth of his introspective thinking.
Through his work, Kemal delves into the subconscious and the emotions that shape human identity. Each painting in this exhibition offers a glimpse into an inner world rich with nuance. By employing strong symbolism and deep color schemes, Kemal creates pieces that merge elements of reality and fantasy, inviting viewers to engage in an emotional dialogue with themselves.
In an era filled with emotional and psychological challenges, Kemal's works resonate strongly. They capture universal themes of self-discovery and reflection, making them accessible to a wide audience. This exhibition also provides insight into the anxieties and hopes of the younger generation, demonstrating how art can serve as a medium for articulating both personal and collective experiences.
Through this exhibition, Kemal’s works offer a visual experience that encourages viewers to reflect more deeply on themselves and their surroundings. His pieces function not only as objects of art but also as tools for deeper reflection and understanding of the journey through life.
